Understanding your tree and vegetation assets is key to appropriate management and policy setting. Not only is it considered good practice, but can be a legal obligation as a property owner. For instance, all tree owners or those in a responsible position have a ‘duty of care’ under common law to ensure their trees (considered their property) are kept in a reasonably safe condition, and that they do not lead to damage or injury to any persons outside of the property boundaries (e.g. your direct neighbours).
In England and Wales an occupiers’ liability is governed by the Occupiers’ Liability Acts 1957 and 1984, the occupier or those responsible for the land on which a tree stands are normally liable for any harm or injury if the tree or part of the tree fails and causes damage or injury to persons either invited or uninvited onto the property.
Additionally, early detection and implantation of suitable management plans for the control of Invasive Weed Species such as Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed, Himalayan Balsam, Floating Pennywort, is vital in protecting your assets.

- Our highly qualified Arboricultural Consultants are well experienced in conducting suitable Quantified Tree Risk Assessments. We utilise state of the art field-based and web based Tree Management software to accurately plot trees on your property, on a GIS map. We have particular expertise in implementing large scale Tree Safety Surveys, reporting tree location, condition, required remedial action and costs.
- Our consultants are highly experienced in Invasive Species Identification, Management and Control. This includes both land based species such as Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica), Himalayan Balsam (Impatiens glandulifera) and Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) and aquatic species such as Australian swamp-stonecrop (Crassula helmsii) and Floating Pennywort (Hydrocotyle ranunculoides).
